ABOUT US
Prefab Eatery, the 180 seater Flagship Café for ACME, was founded in 2013 by Jeff Kennedy & Bridget Dunn.
"We wanted to have the ability to have a space in the inner city and we love this area, Te Aro," Kennedy says.
“Anyone would be able to pop by to use the free wi-fi. It would be a public space without a council bureaucrat in sight. This is why we live in Wellington. This place has sun, and it's not a high-rise area.
Our dream was to have an area we could control socially and musically, with eating, art, beautiful weddings. If the drama school wants to put on a play, it could here.
The lanes on either side of the buildings can be full of events. We are in an inner-city community, that's the dream and there's no other reason for being here."
Prefab Eatery, our flagship cafe, is also the test lab for all our ACME Products.
Acme is the brand for all the goods we love at Prefab - from our coffee roasted on site to the gherkins we sourced in the United States and the ACME cups we sell all over the world.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Was there for my birthday last week on a Friday morning and it was just as busy as always, in a good way. I had delicious pancakes and a great oat milk coffee. They have a lot of good specials that change out so there is always something new to eat here.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Good Coffee with an industrial modern look cafe. Despite the normal busy mornings, service was prompt and food was well done. They roast their coffee on premise too! I went there twice during my trip because of the coffee and ambience.

However none of the customer facing staff were wearing face masks, and my servers lack of social distancing awareness has unfortunately put me off coming back. I am not happy about leaving a poor review but I couldn’t recommend Prefab at the present time due to this experience.

Delicious, I am going to be back tomorrow for it.
Staff very friendly even if we arrived past 2.30 pm. Very lovely and fantastic service. THANK YOU for a great experience, you made us feel welcome even if we had a baby and arrived close to closing time

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great atmosphere, with all the hustle and bustle you would expect. Coffee was luke warm, but flavoursome. Scrambled eggs and bacon were not generous given the price - $20, and the plate was cold. Little details like this make a difference. Service was friendly, cheerful and prompt.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great vibes, lots of seating but very busy! It’s easy to see why, the coffee was well made, their food are not too adventurous but that’s not a bad thing, because they just focused on making everything delicious. Their sausage was one of the best I’ve had at a cafe.
