Abit of a con. If you take ownership of a new home and wish to transfer the guarantee to your name there is a $350 fee. Extremely high for simply changing the name on an agreement. When I asked how they justify such a high fee they simply avoided the questions and said it was set by the board, when I asked further they stopped emailing, disgusting really taking advantage as they know people will have to pay it to keep their guarantee.

A con alright. On top of the ridiculous fee to transfer the policy they also have a clause in their terms that can get them out of just about anything - the clause being 'reasonably discoverable'. In my case I had showers that were not built correctly. They are saying that I should have picked this up before buying the new home. To do this I would need to lift the tiles, membrane and scree during an open home!!! What an absolute joke. This is the worst clause I have ever come across in any companies terms.

Very DISAPPOINTING services. Master Builder staff Skipper Moewai Kotuhi is a good example of unprofessionalism and uslessness. Skip does not answer phone call, keeps hiding, keeps delaying the process and finally supply a primary school level report to close a complaint. How can Master Builder be helpful if their staff is such uselessness?

I gave Master Builders one star as there isn't anything lower. This is nothing but a "Boys "Club" that anyone can join upon payment of a subscription. The service, and I use the term lightly, that we received for our new house build was nothing short of abysmal. The contracted company, Sun Structure Homes run by Garry Phillips, ex Master Builder President, went into Receivership three months into the job leaving outstanding debts with subbies that we had paid him for. When we approached Master Builders they didn't care. I raised the matter of having a Master Build Guarantee but they still didn't care as he hadn't lodged it, in spite of us paying him the fee. So in addition to walking away with the deposit and the first progress payment and the Master Build Guarantee fee we had nothing. Needless to say from our perspective Garry Phillips is not to be trusted and Master Builders stance in this matter did nothing to inspire confidence in their organisation. We eventually paid the lead contractor additional money to manage the project. He was another Master Builder cronie and I ended up managing a lot of activity myself. I don't believe that all Master Builders are bad but in my experience I haven't met a good one. Do your due diligence and insist on talking with previous customers.

Do not choose a Master Builder because you think that the Master Build Guarantee will help you - it doesn't - if anything, any builder that carries the Master Build name ought to be ashamed of themselves for being associated with an old boys club like this..........

**NEVER BUY A MASTERBUILD HOUSE** After having such a terrible experience with them I would never buy a house with Masterbuild Warranty on it. A masterbuild warranty is basically a waiver of all the rights of the buyer and removes any liability of the builder towards the property. Avoid to buy any property with Masterbuild Warranty on it. Don't get misled by the name. Its a TRAP every buyer should avoid. Especially the first home buyers. ***Read their reviews on the internet**** ... Dont be a victim of this fraud...

These reviews are the absolute tip of the Iceberg. Put it this way. The Masterbuild rip off, is SO Bad, 3 victims have now litterally started an advocacy and consultancy business, to help ensure other people don't get steamrolled like they did. Both in legal advice, workmanship, and claim mediation. Our market research consisted of 2 Social Media posts to see if other people had problems, and one got 37 Written submissions (delivered and on paper) and the other got shared over 40 times and got HUNDREDS of comments. The Bank/s that force you into using one of these members are facing the comerce commission and will be publicly named and questioned as part of a investigative series by a New Zealand network early next year. I'm telling you, there are things about to be exposed that will ensure you never, ever, ever even consider a builder dumb enough to offer a 'Masterbuild' logo again. Any genuine, skillfull builders will use the alternative ascociation. DO. NOT. Use a Masterbuilder. If you somehow still buy into it or have already, or purchsed a new home with one of their 'Guarante's. It's pretty much a certainty, you will be needing an advocate to stand up for you soon enough. There are absolute horror stories starting to poor in.
