β β β β β Generally the service I get from River City Cabs is good and sometimes excellent.
The only frustrations I have:
1. The automated voice system which is in the Aussie accent doesn't understand the Kiwi accent - even if you talk slower and clearly - worse with MΔori street names.
2. Not enough taxis rostered on during a random spike in demand. I've had to wait over an hour quite a few times.
3. High Fares. Being the only legitimate taxi service in town, a trip of only 2.5 kms costs between $12 - $14 - much pricier than an Uber would cost, but hey the reality is it's Whanganui, not Wellington.
4. Their call centre is based in Palmerston North and some call centre staff are unfamiliar with Whanganui streets and locations.
I recommend downloading the SmartHail app so you don't have to talk to the stupid voice system and you can see how far away your taxi is.

β β β β β Not a fan of trying to get from point A to point B "the long way" ... if you need a $20 fare for a 3km trip, just say so. Not the first time... and stop smoking in your cabs!

β β β β β Worst taxi experience, booked taxi then waited half an hour before phoning company who advised taxi yet to be dispatched and unable to advise when we might be picked up. Single women then walked home. Seriously disappointed with service and customer relations. Consumers beware

β β β β β My elderly sister gets a taxi from the same place to come home several times a week unfortunately the costs vary from$18 to$10 I have rung rivercity cabs to query these descrepencies but no answer just a sudden change in price. I wonder what happens to other at risk people. Would appreciate other's input as rivercity cabs don't seem to want to discuss it
