Here we go.. 6 days we lasted. Me, my partner and sister were wrongfully accused for stealing money from someone who we considered family and got fired for it. Their reason for it was because my partner was in the area where it was taken from but there were 20 other people in the area also. Steve fryell is a good person that made a poor decision, he let's anyone smoke marijuana at the accommodation as long as it isn't inside work hours, he asked everyone else if they had taken the wallet and simply moved on. When he asked us if we had taken the wallet you could tell he had already believed in his head that it was us, he said he wasn't pointing fingers as to who it was but you could tell he thought it was us. So this morning on 23.03.18 we were called into the office to "plead our case" (Steve fryells words) but it was nothing like that, as soon as we sat down we were fired. Other than that I quite enjoyed working beside riverlock pickers, they are an awesome bunch of people who are caring and look out for every single person out there. They treat you like family. Hope nothing like this happens to anyone else.

Thanks for nothing. First of all we waited for nearly 3 weeks for the job to start. When we went to the health and saftey induction training they told us that we could work for 2,6 or 8 weeks, whatever suits us best. There was definitely not the case. One and a half week in, they suddenly told us that they dont need us anymore. They left over 50 people behind unemployed. I thought that it is just fair to share our experience with people who think about getting a job at Riverlocks.

Riverlock pulled off a bad move. Hired 100 people, the job started 1,5 weeks after promised start. We worked here for 1,5 weeks and today they fired three crews (56 people) because they don't need us anymore. The job offer said there would be work for 6-8 weeks, we waited in opitiki 2,5 weeks without working. That's why the job was a big loss for every person stayed here because the cost for accomodation and food was bigger than the salary. Don't feel secure about your status.

This company would get NO stars from me if it was an option. The owner and supervisors here are shocking, you guys go on the news screaming out for workers, so many people apply to work here only to be left stranded, abused, fired for no reason, promised work and only working well under what was promised, being paid incorrectly or not on time. Myself and a friend were hired to work 6-8 weeks, we stayed at the accommodation provided (which we paid for) our first week we only worked 3 days in picking, going into the second week we worked 4 days. Near the end of our second week we were both woken just before 7am and told to leave, nothing else, just told to pack our things and go. We were being accused of running around the dorms in the middle of the night and laughing loudly the evening before, which is full of crock. We were left stranded with all our belongings trying to get to town(thank you so much to the local who drove us into town) we were both left in shock we couldn’t believe what just happened, they wouldn’t allow us to defend our selves just told us to go. They went on the old bats word that’s staying there at the dorms. During our stay we saw 4 other people fired over petty things, one guy was really sick but because he was still sick on the second morning he was told to go, a couple were told to leave at 8pm because they were being accused of stealing but no proof was given, another guy being fired because the old lady could smell alcohol on him and told the supervisor he was drinking (he caught up with a friend in town who was passing through and had a couple drinks with him,he wasn’t drinking onsite, apparently that rule comes and goes, no drinking at the dorms)and now us, all in a span of two weeks. This company is pathetic, don’t cry a river on the news about needing workers when you treat them like this.I hope this company is investigated or taken down for all the mistreatment that they have caused. I would never recommend this place to anyone. I wish we had done our research before coming here.
