The backbone of RLA Polymers NZ Ltd is manufacturing of synthetic latex based compounds for the Carpet and Roading Industries, Flooring adhesives, or the supply of key raw materials to this market. The business also manufactures and sells a range of construction products including High Strength Flowable Grout, Ceramic Tile Adhesives, Levelling compounds and Screeds, and is the toll manufacturer of choice for a number of significant players in the NZ construction industry, in both the powder and liquids markets.
Established in 2014 by 2 NZ directors, one director had managed the business when it was part of a multinational; the other director has been supplying the business with raw materials for 30 years. Both directors are Industrial Chemists, and their combined 70+ years of experience is spread across adhesives, coatings, concrete, polyurethane and water treatment, gained whilst working for multinationals such as Nan Pao, Vita, Dunlop, BASF, Akzo and Avery Dennison.
In addition to practising Management System QC procedures, the laboratory is constantly developing, refining…..or inventing products for RLA’s markets.
2015 was the year RLA acquired Flexco, who were the distributors of RLA’s tile adhesive range. In addition, they offered roof pointing and roof painting products, plus the BRANZ-appraised FlexiSeal P.U.D for water-proofing.
2018 saw RLA buy G&A Adhesives, another locally-owned business producing EVA and PVA emulsions for a variety of adhesive customers. The business also supplies a wide range of Hot Melt Adhesives to a discerning customer base.
Operating in the sphere of chemical manufacturing, it is imperative that factory staff possess forklift driver certification; most are also Dangerous Goods Approved Handlers; and every staff member is fully site-inducted before commencing employment.
