★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One of our favourite spots, we come here regularly.. its just gorgeous with so much to offer.. the redoubt, the beautiful trees and birdlife, soul quenching shade in summer, stunning views and stunning roses, succulents Frangapini and all the beautiful annuals. Picnic spots and lookout benches.. the amazing enduring Begonia house (so cosy on a winters day) So serene, a little slice of Paradise... right there!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Named after a former Mayor, this lovely little park is located at the northern end of The Strand on a hill above the railway line and adjacent to both the Monmouth Redoubt and the new police station, site of the first armed constabulary.
Within the Park are memorial trees, a small, tropical display house with begonias and orchids, and a 28-bed rose garden.
Park entry is free and the tropical display house is open daily from 1000~1600 in winter and 0900 to 1800 in summer.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beautiful at this time of year when the rose garden is at its best. Took a picnic and sat in a quiet corner overlooking the rose garden and inner harbour. Cities secret garden! Little hot house to stroll round before you leave that always has something to wonder at.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beautiful, though I wish the park's outdoor pond was more than just still water nowadays, with no fish nor water plants. The Tropical Plant House is well maintained and a lovely and peaceful botanical experience.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Love going here for quiet Picnic with Hubby an Family. Peaceful Park set amongst Beautiful huge trees. Has massive gardens on other side with giant Cacti an Rose Gardens plus a Tropical Forest Garden inside building you can go through for Free. It's beautiful ❤️ Also has own Toilet block open all hours. Usually kept very clean. Has Parking an the most amazing Views over the Harbour x
