★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I highly recommend a visit to the Winter Gardens. The colours of the poinsettia plants are amazing. They compliment the Christmas themes and decorations.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A nice place to stop on a journey to stretch the legs and use the conveniences. Clean and tidy. Gardens, statues, and birds. A radio-controlled boat on the lake to watch. Plenty of car-parks available this day but sometimes it's a struggle to find one. Sit on the lawn to eat a snack, but watch out for the sprinkler.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Awesome place to relax on a hot summer day with the family. Nice food at the Funky Duck cafe, and plenty of shady spots to sit and eat. A full walk around the lake is highly recommended, especially if you like close encounters with ducks, swans, geese, and pukeko.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Gorgeous gardens, lovely walk with many vistas of beauty. Wonderful memorial to Pura McGregor. A firm favourite to visit when in Whanganui. For extra fun, take a packet of oats to feed the birds.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A beautiful relaxing walk around the lake and park. Many water birds to observe and they are people friendly. The fountain is stunning with copper coloured metal in leaf shapes in the centre, shining brightly.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Must visit for Whanganui. Beautiful lake that's easy to walk around. Well maintained pathways make for a great trip with family & friends of all ages.
Some pushchairs & heavier wheelchairs may have issues on pathways if it has been raining recently, especially on the lowest track.
