★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This school teaches boys to be men. They teach it's what you know not who you know that counts. Pacifica and Maori student leaders. Not perfect but a fantastic school nevertheless.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If your kids are rugby-playing conformists they will be sweet here. If they have alternative ways of learning they'll struggle with the school's conservative minded management. The best, wisest teachers seem to be pushed out in favor of young inexperienced staff. The structure of the school does not prepare students for further education, though that may be down to the education system. Just send your kids to Hagley

I left and wave Goodbye with Considerably less than 5 fingers and never looked back And I wouldn't recommend this school to anyone with a Son due to the attitude of the students and Caution anyone with Daughter. All its known for is Rugby ?. Playing conformist and the STUDENTS are the problem. But the teachers and Staff were great and helped me a student who struggled Academically so I can't blame them for the fact they had to deal with boys( bad attitudes ) students who didn't want to learn and got in the way of students who did want to learn it's the Students who make the school what it is yes I'm clearly putting it all on the students. You are the schools representative after all
