Sal’s Story
1941: Salvatore Leo is born in a little town call Corato in the Puglia region of Southern Italy.
1951: Only 10 years old, Sal immigrates to New York City.
1959: Under the watchful eye of his family, Sal begins mastering the art of making authentic New York pizza by hand by strictly adhering to his family’s well-guarded pizza making techniques and secret recipes.
1975: ‘Sal’s Pizza of Little Neck’ opens and Sal’s legend starts to spread, becoming renowned for some of the finest and freshest pizza throughout the city.
2008: After a number of ‘recovery’ pizzas following a celebratory NYC New Years, the idea of bringing Authentic NY pizza to NZ was born.
Late 2008: Following successful blind taste tests using NZ water on some of Sal’s longest customers in NYC, we prove that NZ WATER WORKS to make Authentic New York Pizza.
2009: ‘Sal’s Authentic New York Pizza’ opens our first store in Auckland, and Brian Leo -’Son o’ Sal and pizza making prodigy’ decides to join us.
Many years later, Brian continues to train and mentor our pizza makers ensuring his family legacy lives on in every slice we serve.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ As an American, I can tell you this pizza is the real deal. It's always tasty, the service is friendly and the restaurant is clean. The only downside is the rising prices. It seems that every year the price of a whole pizza goes up by a dollar at least. I'll enjoy it while I can afford it.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Fantastic pizza, awesome garlic knots, mozzarella sticks ? Great service and atmosphere. Enjoyed reading the story about the restaurant's namesake, and the NY-Style decor is a nice touch. I pretty much dream of Sal's Pizza!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I love Sal’s Pizza. But this location sucks. They never ever ever have my order ready for pick up. They say 45 mins and they literally always forget and item. Usually the wings. And they take 25 mins to make. So the pizza gets cold and I waste my time. Great pizza but staff needs to up their game.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I had one of the best hot Buffalo wings, absolutely delicious, comes with two types of sauces, a blue cheese sauce and ranch, and fresh celery sticks, love love love them!!! Great friendly service, and reasonable prices. A good variety on menu too. Garlic knots another delicious item. And the pizzas are the best, especially the crust, so chewy and mmmm delicious. We shared a half half pizza ? Thanks guys

We ordered a whole pizza and there was certainly enough and it was not too expensive.
