★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Highly recommended - great food, service and drink selection. You get what you pay for and then some. Great ambience for a dinner. If possible, come in a group so you can share more dishes. Really high quality cooking.

Much more than a wine bar, the food options were great, the spicy friend chicken reminded me of home in Texas (although I wish they'd trim the fat just a touch more since they don't deep fry it), and the cocktail and wine list was so thorough and exhaustive I felt like I walked away with an education even though I've internally traveled to more than 20 international wine regions.
I'll be back and I'll refer everyone I know.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I'm always wary when a place says they have "the most (fill in the blank)", but when this place said they have the longest liquor list, I believe it. Several pages long and included both local and imported beer, spirits, and wine. Food was also very on point and staff was highly knowledgeable and friendly!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Contemporary and creative cuisine with fresh home made sourdough bread always available. The wine list has a selection of NZ and international great wines, a lot of them are from organic or biodynamic producers. I definitely recommend the set menu, it is a 5 course dinner that allows you to experience all the different flavours they creat.

Arrived at Scotch Bar with much excitement only to leave disappointed and frankly feeling ripped off.
My partner and I both paid 85 dollars for the bites and three course menu and were expected to share one small slice of salmon between us and nibble on the smallest piece of venison I have seen in a while.
For 85 dollars each I would have at least expected to receive a slice of salmon each rather then the slither I had that evening and shared plates that dont run out after one scoop.
In other restaurants where you pay for a set menu in a group every member of the group receives a dish to themselves rather having to share one dish between each other.
Evidently Scotch Bar is doing something different and frankly its ridiculous as we both paid full price only to get effectively one person worth of food.
