★ ★ ★ ★ ★ After many months over the past 2 years when your shop was not able to open due to lockdowns, and now you can trade again, I would have expected all customers to feel welcomed and warmly encouraged to stay and browse or shop at Shirley's. Instead, I was asked by the shopkeeper, had I signed in and when I replied that no, I had not, I was told that, quote "Well, you need to!". Indeed it was not the fact that I had to sign in that offended me, I would have done so had I been spoken to respectfully. Rather, it was the way in which I was rudely told and barked at. Hmmm, I thought to myself, your shop had been recommended to me by a close friend. I would not shop at Shirley's now if it was the last dress shop in Auckland. I do not subject myself to rudeness. I walk away every time. I came to spend money in your shop. You lose a sale, quite likely a big one as I was shopping for a Mother of the Groom outfit. Needless to say, I thanked you, reminded you that signing in is not mandatory and left and I will not be back and I will let my friend know too. Word of mouth is your best advertiser. If people have a good experience they will tell someone. If people have a bad experience they will tell many others. Think about it!
