★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great historic site. Clean, flush toilets at the DOC campsite. Well worth the 'high pucker factor' drive in.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Once an Iconic Otago Gold Rush Town this Place has been sadly ruined by fire and environmental vandalism. the once revered fall colour of the Larch Forest around the former township has been destroyed by a false flag environmental policy and then the Mount Aurum Historic Homestead was burn down. However the old Stone School still stands amongst the forest of dead trees and there is still a 19th century grave yard to explore.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I went on a 4WD into Skippers with Aiste Photography Tour. My guide kindly prepared a picnic basket which we enjoyed at the old school bench. It was a precious moment of tranquility...

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beautiful scenery, great campsite with the cleanest toilets i have seen in a long time. Getting here in a normal car is a bit of an adventure though. I'm into that but also our car is a hand me down at this point and a few bumps and scratches don't alarm me. That being said there are definitely some nerv wracking parts where the road is very narrow, muddy and next to 20m of nothingness. I wouldn't recommend coming here as an inexperienced driver or in a car with low clearance. If you love adventure and beautiful places that are a little different then this is the place for you.
