About Soul Shoes
Rob is still in the workshop every day over 40 years later! Throughout this time we have built up a reputation for the quality of our workmanship, uniqueness of our designs, use of traditional methods and of course for just how long lasting our shoes, bags and belts are.
We often have people telling us about their shoes and bags they’re still wearing after 10, 20, 30 years and how they remember wearing our shoes to school. We’re proud to be a part of many people’s memories and life stories. Lots of kiwis know us but we also send shoes to Australia, UK, Europe, America and all over the world!
We have gone from selling on Whangamata Beach to shops all over the country to where we are now at Raglan’s Wharf. We offer lots of great options on our website but for something extra special come for a visit to Raglan and choose from our selection of unique and unusual hides.
We source only the best quality cow hides; our NZ leather comes from Tasman Tanneries in Whanganui, New Zealand and our genuine vegetable tanned leather comes from Tuscany, Italy. We go personally to the tanneries (even in Italy!) and select the best and most interesting hides for our products because we care about every step of the process.
The first pairs of Soul Shoes were made with recycled car tyre soles and we have stayed mindful of the environment. We offer the option of 100% recycled conveyor belt soles and support sustainability by creating products that will last. We also use recycled shoe boxes for our orders, donated by the Raglan community-box drop offs always welcome!
We promise that every pair of shoes, bag, belt, wallet and purse is made by hand, from start to finish with care and attention by one our experienced craftsmen-very possibly Rob himself!

They save your first details and ship to the address automatically without shipping notification or tracking.
They also ship to the details of the first order. Even if that order was for someone else.
Disappointed with the customer service, they are rude in emails and do not reply to emails or requests to order.
Some items you can only buy online if you have purchased the items in the store.
Overall disappointing.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ After having spent a decent amount of money at this store, and recently having an unfortunate accident debilitating my finger, I called into the store to ask for a custom made (very simple) leather work fitting. The lady (Sarah) who manages the store was extremely unaccomodating and very unsympathetic. Its a shame since customer is always king and one bad review can be crippling due to the online experience for others. My suggestion is that people purchase their Leatherwork elsewhere. Don't support businesses who don't support the community, and especially those that don't support the disabled!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Really disappointed when I tried to order online 2 pair footwear yesterday just to find you have ro phone first. BUT make sure you have the exact measurements for you foot as per the tutorial.
Went back and duly watched the tutorial and got
Required info as per the website, rang the company just to be told sorry we only sell off thw shelf now.
What a screaming shame and hassle.
I need new jandals and have found the ones off the shelf are too loose. Will not return either and won’t be going to Raglan any time soon.
Apparently they need a cobbler HURRY UP! They clearly need a media marketing person to sort out the misleading website.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I would highly recommend this business,, the quality of the products are fantastic, l buy my leather belts from there, they are just beautifully designed,
thick high grade leather, the buckles are quality, there is a nice choice to pick from, colors, sizes, l would never buy my belts from any where else, l have never come across such nice belts, that is my opinion.
There other products are excellent also, comfortable leather sandals, they look great for summer, bags, etc..
When the belts were sent to me they were intervigille wrapped with there card and a lovely gift, they were very polite to talk to, helpful, it took no time at all to send the belts out, 3days l had them, could not be happier.
SOUL SHOES deserves to be given a high praise as they give a excellent product, service, presentation, dont take my word try this fantastic SOUL SHOES for yourself.
