★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Really good takeaways the guy behind the counter was very happy and friendly. The fish was very good with a nice light crispy batter. My wife and boy said the chicken drums were really good aswell. Overall great experience will definitely be back next time we are in taupo.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Spa gate is one of the most popular fish and chips shop at Taupo, and I can tell you why. Went to Taupo as a stopover and I am so glad we did.
Their fish was fresh, service was quick. Ordered the smaller seafood pack and two extra oysters, Decent portion size even for two adults and quite a good batter on their fish not too thick, not too thin and not too greasy. The fish was crunchy on the outside and steaming hot running with juice on the inside. Their chips were cooked perfectly too.
Give it a try next time you stopover at Taupo. Recommended. Parking could be an issue tho, maybe easier to park slightly further and walk over, also those extra few steps might give you the warrant to order an extra piece or two of golden fried goodies. ?
