SPCA's Hamilton Centre (formerly Waikato SPCA) reopened early 2017 under new national management. We are open 6 days a week for adoptions and run a 7-day-a-week ambulance day service for sick and injured strays.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The kennels are quite large so I felt that the dogs are happier than the ones I’ve seen in shelters in the USA. And the staff are very helpful and patient. Would definitely go through the adoption process here again if the opportunity arose.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ They looked after my very old cat when he wandered off and reunited us. Since his death I have been able to foster two lovely kittens and one older cat. They supply everything needed for fostering eg food, litter and toys which makes fostering a free and enjoyable experience. Also the staff are great!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Such a bad experience. Went in yesterday to talk to them about adopting a cat and they were so rude. Two older women made me feel like a child. I asked to look at the cats as I wanted to give them a good life because I know everyone wants kittens and that was extremely frowned upon and they questioned me 3 or 4 times as to why I wouldn’t get a kitten. They asked if I have had pets before and I haven’t and they were so rude about it rolling their eyes. I do not want to go back again. If you’re looking at adopting a cat go to petstock the base they have the most amazing, kind, and helpful staff. Never going back thanks for your terrible experience.
