★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Die Scultur „Spires“ erschuf der 1948 in Chirstchurch geborene Bildhauer/Künstler Neil Dawson. Die aus Stahlstäben bestehende Skulptur schwebt scheinbar schwerelos in Baumhöhe über dem Rasen.
Der Entwurf der Skulptur basiert auf dem Turm der Christ Church Cathedral um deren neugotischen Gebäude widerzuspiegeln, die bei den Erdbeben 2011 verloren gegangen sind.
Dawson finanzierte die Spires-Skulptur selbst mithilfe von Sponsoren und installierte sie 2014 auf dem Latimer Square.
Ab 2015 gab es Pläne die Spires-Skulptur im Rahmen eines staatlichen Kunstpfads an den Avon River zu verlegen. Eine Verlegung wurde bisher nicht realisiert.
 The "Spiers" culture was created by sculptor / artist Neil Dawson, born in Chirstchurch in 1948. The sculpture, made of steel rods, appears to float weightlessly at tree height above the lawn.
The design of the sculpture is based on the tower of Christ Church Cathedral to reflect its neo-Gothic buildings that were lost in the 2011 earthquake.
Dawson sponsored the Spiers sculpture himself and installed it on Latimer Square in 2014.
From 2015 there were plans to move the Spiers sculpture to the Avon River as part of a state art trail. A relocation has not yet been implemented.
