The name Te Āhuru Mōwai was gifted by local mana whenua Te Rūnanga o Ngā Wairiki Ngāti Apa and means a safe, comfortable and enjoyable space for families and community. The full bi-line - Ko Te Āhuru Mōwai o Tutaeporoporo - means ‘the safe haven of Tutaeporoporo’.

Tutaeporoporo is a mokai to local Iwi that is seen as a friend and guardian of southern Rangitīkei land, waterways and people.

Te Rūnanga o Ngā Wairiki Ngāti Apa also worked closely with the playground designers to develop art work which tells the tale of Tutaeporoporo and is woven throughout the play space.

Thank you Te Rūnanga o Ngā Wairiki Ngāti Apa for this special gift.

This is a world class play ground in Marton. Be prepared for tears when it's time to go back home ?

Worth taking a picnic and all the kids or Grandies to even if you live out of region. It's a fantastic park on parr with Kowhai Park Wanganui but a modern smaller scale with water play and musical instruments and a safe surface, in ground mini trampolines and lots fot the kids to play on. Marton also has a world class skate park opposite the Z gas station at the other end of the main street.

Awesome little gem of a playground. Heaps of swings, amazing climbing towers and slides. Only slight issue was one of the toilets was out of loo paper. Other than that definitely worth a visit to Marton.

Fantastic playground, lots of experiential things to do along with the usual slides and swings but on steroids! There's a confidence course as well, and some fun climbing areas. Also seating and we'll kept toilets on site. There's also a nature walk which was nice. Worth a drive, the kids loved it!

Amazing park. It was fenced, had many swings and climbing structures for all ages along with water play areas too. Bonus was that there was a coffee cart across the road!
