Te Awamutu College

The Journey to Success

Te Awamutu College is a State co-educational secondary school, located in the thriving rural town of Te Awamutu. Surrounded by extensive grounds, the College has developed over sixty five years into a beautiful complex of classrooms, marae and specialist facilities. Situated at the western end of the main street of the town, it allows easy access to the community.

The College catchment area extends to rural areas up to 50 kilometres from the town and a large percentage of the students travel to school by bus. As the only secondary school in the town, Te Awamutu College aims to provide a range of learning experiences to meet the needs of all students.

We are proud of Te Awamutu College and the students who choose to make this their school. Our school motto, Kia Kaha (Ever be strong), provides a clear message to students in the classroom, on the playing field and in life after leaving school.

This high school has welcoming staff and students. They are a Green-Gold Enviroschool. They have a beautiful wharenui which is available for the community to utilise.

I was a student at Te Awamutu college from yr 9 to yr 11. Teachers did nothing for me. The yr 11 deans would never handle any issues that needed dealing with. They ignored any problem that was clearly an issue and overall, most staff were not useful and would not support their students, educationally or mentally.

Great school for those who smoke, after my 5 years of being here not a single thing is done about the people smoking down on the basketball court. The "duty teachers" walk right pass them when they can see their smoking.

One of the main Auto Workshope in te Awamutu. All kind of mechanical and electrical works done here. Friendly staff, timely work finishing, cost effective place for al type of your vehicles. Prior appointment will help you to get a complete customer satisfaction.

My old school for my entire secondary period USED to be awesome. From what I have seen and heard, a decline since circa 2000,no discipline, pandering to students, subject availabilities are pathetic compared with the 1980s.

During my time at Te Awamutu College was alright. However I had a lot of teachers despise me and there are a lot of caring teachers here that give you the opportunity to try what you want and what you want to learn. My time here was awful one teacher told me I could resub the first assessment we did and they told to buzz off and mentions only the two recent assessments with no feedback just told me I was too far from resubbing this teacher has proceeded to break a promise of me getting a resub to at an achieved during booster week. In a few of my classes in previous years I've had teachers that were unmotivated and didn't take the role as a teacher and let numerous people disrupt learning, because of that I dropped a subject that I use to enjoy. On the other hand there is a bunch of teachers that will actually take the genuine time to look at each student's work and progress, they make learning actually fun, there was the occasional days where we take time off work that boost the efficiently of work it made me feel bad every time I had to ask for extensions. I cannot raise it lower or increase it because of how much I suffered through the school and there are some of the greatest teachers there.
