★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Was looking for a good workout, and boy, i got one! Gorgeous views and very quiet. Walked all the way to O'Neil Beach and back, just under 6 hours. Bring lots of water, more than you think you will need! Pathway very overgrown, so keep an eye out for prickly plants, hidden holes, and some mushy mud. I did it in my tennis shoes, but my feet are definitely yelling at me for not wearing the hiking boots.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Good walk as a part of Hillary trail, however, for a day walk there is no parking and toilets. But it still has some great views. There are stairs and narrow roads , so need to be ready. It was quite Challenging for myself

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A carpark with plenty of spaces for cars but no shade. There are some views from the carpark. There is also a long set of stairs at this end which was really tiring walking up, especially after a 4 hour hike.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I would definitely only recommend the Te Henga walkway for those with a moderate to advanced level of fitness. This track is not suitable for prams.
The track starts out with a series of stairs, which are quite steep in places and will be muddy after rain. You descend the stairs when starting out, which means an intense climb on the return leg.
The track continues on through farmland and up a bit of a 'scramble' where the real coastal walk begins.
The track itself is quite rugged and not maintained. During winter it is common for parts of the track to wash out and you need to carefully climb across parts.
Sunblock is absolutely recommended as the coastal track is not in the shade.
For your efforts, you are rewarded with beautiful West Coast views and a decent cardio workout.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ To experience nature and a good scenic view and a combination of sea mountain and forest need to make some effort.
But at the end its worth it and also gives you a reality check for your health and physical endurance.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The sad thing is that they closed the walkway from Tirikohua Point to Raetainga Ponit, so I walked from the beginning to the point of Bartrum bay, it takes about 1 hr to go and return. The view is gorgeous! I love it ❤️

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Access Te Henga walkway from Constable rd. This walk is quite a hike. Is not suitable for the elderly or those who aren't particularly fit. Quite a bit of stairs to go down at first and very steep, literally almost vertical. Some parts of track are not the easiest to walk, but aren't impossible. Track gets narrow for a little bit and then is open as. Beautiful views, nature all around you and open skies. Then there's a mountain climb, but I swear the view at the top is worth every second of the climb. So beautiful. You can see the coastline and vast open ocean, it's breathtaking ? Love the West coast ?
There is also a waterfall (see last image) you can see on the right side from the mountain top. We didn't get to go and see it as the track was closed, but it looked to be another hour and a half - 2 hours away (obvs via foot).
