If you’re looking for a quiet country getaway for the weekend, or you just want to escape the stresses of everyday life, then Te Horo Farmstay is the ideal solution!
Set in farmland at the Te Horo Equestrian Centre, the two-bedroom retreat is brand new inside, having been converted from the old farm milking shed. Remnants of the building’s past remain, including a boot room and a carousel milking gate outside.
Otherwise, the decor, furnishing and fittings have been tastefully installed to create a relaxing environment for a family, a couple, or just for one if you feel like some time out on your own.
There’s a bonus if you’re a horsey person – you can bring your horses with you and they can enjoy the nearby paddocks. Te Horo Farmstay and Equestrian Centre owner Mandy Robinson also offers pony rides and horse treks.
All rooms at the farmstay overlook farmland to the west and get all-day sun. The comfortable lounge can be opened up in summer and heated by a woodburner in winter, and the kitchen is fully equipped. There’s a TV and wifi service, a dining table for six, and a courtyard surrounded by roses. There are floor-to-ceiling sliding doors in both bedrooms, with one ensuite boasting a claw-foot bath, whilst the other is fitted with a shower that’s suitable for people with disabilities.
There is full disabled access and you can drive your car along the concrete cow race to the wheelchair ramp at the front door. We look forward to welcoming you to the Milking Shed, your home away from home.

β β β β β As a Japanese solo tourist, I stayed this beautiful place for one night in June 2019.
I requested the accommodation just several hours before I arrived there.
Despite of such a terrible hard schedule, the owner, Mandy, and here mother warmly welcomed me! Even more, they invited me the dinner. For me, this accommodation is the best one.
Thank you so much! I hope I could stay with my family next time.

β β β β β Wonderful hosts in a perfect setting. Pet lamb, horses, sheep, tranquility . Very comfy beds and excellent amenities. Really enjoyed the walk to the top of the hill and the views of Kapiti . Horses to match every level of riding skills. The kids loved feeding the peacocks and their riding lesson in the arena. They also were able to brush ponies. This place is only about five k from the beach and great shopping at the outlet shops in Otaki. Good cafes within ten mins drive. We will certainly be revisiting.

β β β β β Quiet, country charm for a relaxing, envigorating and peaceful stay.
The unit is set high enough to get views around the surrounding green, rolling countryside. It is quite large, well equipped, clean and cosy. You will love the animal interactions with the many horses, peacocks, hawks, pukeko etc. The unit is family sized so your children can get that country experience. Your host, Mandy, is most accommodating and helpful.
The settings is a ten minute drive to supermarkets, cafes and the small shopping centre of Waikanae. Highlights of the village are the Salt and Wood Collective bar which serves craft beer and food, the nearby Old Beach Bakery, and the stunning river walks along the Waikanae River reserve.
So if you need some fresh air, countryside and to recharge your batteries do try the Te Horo Farmstay.
