In the early 1990s the health landscape in Aotearoa underwent significant reform, a process which offered the Hauraki Māori Trust Board the opportunity to develop an iwi-based health care service to provide for their local community.
Centred on the unique health needs of the people of this region, the service would place Hauraki whānau and Kaupapa Māori approaches at its core.
The Board established Te Korowai Hauora o Hauraki after undertaking a thorough health needs assessment of the Hauraki rohe.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Had a serious injury on my knee (acl and meniscus) call in to make an appointment and walk on crutches till the lace.
It end up that the big Māori receptionist at the front said that I didn’t have an appointment and that I couldn’t make one there. I was in obvious pain but they Just tell me to move so the cue could keep going. I’ve been treat just like Rubish to keep outside the door.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Way better than the other medical practice in the town. Receptionists are always friendly and accomodating. Nurses are kind and empathetic. Furthermore, it's never a long wait time here. I would definitely recommend the senior nurse practitioner who saw me last time. Thank you for making me feel like I was actually being listened to after all these years!
