About Te Paerahi Beach (Porangahau) Freedom Camping
From mid December until mid February each year a ‘permit application fee' applies. For the rest of the year permits must be obtained from Council for any camping at Pourerere Beach but no charge will apply.
Casual campers must notify the Council's Bylaw Officer of their name, address and contact phone number, their intended camping area and length of stay. Contact on +64 6 857 8060 for more information.
Length of stay is not to exceed 3 days, please leave the site clean and tidy. Camp sites must be set up in such a way as to not interfere with or damage trees, other vegetation such as sand dune plants, or disturb nesting birds in the dunes.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Perfect camping spot. Flushing toilets, running water, toilet paper, drinking water - all supplied. The camping spots are not very flat but so close to the beach. Remote and yet good cell phone coverage.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Really great spot to tent or park up the campervan. One large, flat, open space suitable for motorhomes etc and another area with tree cover better suited to tenting. Can hear the waves crashing lulling you to sleep. Very busy on Waitangi weekend. Take your rubbish away with you. Toilets were great. Toilet paper soft and refilled daily ????
