★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Went there a couple of years ago when I was traveling with a bus company. We were able to get to know a bit about Maori culture, sleep in a proper marae, eat some nice food, learn to do the haka ( wich was fun AND very manly) and spend time with some really great people. Definitely one of the most memorable and beautiful stays in a long line of memorable and beautiful stays in NZ!

Our whanau gather here to celebrate Birthdays, Ceremonies, functions of any kind and also to celebrate the life of those who have passed on from this world. Te Takinga marae is a sacred house where Ancestors watch over us, guide us and keep us safe.
