★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Good place to have a large variety of chinese and asian food. For our first visit we just tried dumplings (very nice),, crispy prawns (too much crumb to my taste) and the sweet and sour pork. One thing to know is that the main dishes are not coming with rice. You have to order the rice on the side. Which then make the main dishes rather in the high prices. I will go back to try the duck dishes and also the soups (pork and prawn wonton soup). The decoration is quite simple and the place is quite tidy. Still a very good place for a tasty dinner.
Update April 27/2022: This place has become our favourite chinese restaurant and we go there two or three times a month. All dishes are good and tasty. Never had any bad surprise.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Food was great. Service was over the top with frequent offers to remove dishes which still had food on from the table. It wasn't hugely busy but felt a little like we were under time pressure. Apart from that it was great.

As always Stella and the China Kitchen team, were awesome.
I drive from South/West Christchurch to them, every time I want to eat Chinese food. Well worth the drive.
Ordered 4 dishes for 2 of us, so ended up with a takeaway of left overs.
Superb beef fillet dish, wontons, garlic & chilli prawns and a lamb dish. So yummy. All that and fizzy drinks were very reasonable at $50 for each of us.
Such a clean and tidy restaurant to eat at.
They are in Papanui, close by the service station, near the Northlands Mall.
If you haven't already, go check them out, for lunch or dinner. ??

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ordered vegetarian noodles which contained fish/crustacean oil, and the vegetarian dumplings, which either contained pork fat, or were cooked in pork fat (I suspect the pastry was made with pork fat). Not only that, it was cooked appallingly - I’d be embarrassed to send that out of my kitchen, let alone charge for it. Utter filth.
