β β β β β I'd give this place 10/10 if I could. Just fantastic. Everything is fresh as they go out in the morning and smoke their catch at the back throughout the day. Oh the smells... So delicious! Really good and unique selection of seafood sold here, one of the best in the region. There's always something interesting to try from mussel (abalone) sausages to smoked mussels. Cold or hot smoked salmon, and so much more. If you are in the area, give it a go!

β β β β β First off, the fish is not too bad (it's not too good either) but having read the other reviews I'm beginning to think New Zealand is not a great place for fish. We had hoped to pick up some good smoked fish and the price suggested it might be just that.
The lady serving us in the shop was less than helpful, she did not want to recommend anything nor let us try anything. Ideally what we wanted to do was try a few different options and buy what we liked. In the end we ended up buying three different fish and some mussels which came to $35. I would have liked smaller pieces so that I could try more flavours but this wasn't a go either. The fish were packed in together which, it transpired, was a problem as they had not been descaled.
When we did finally eat them, a little later, they were drier and tougher than might be expected. This was a pity as we live in Thailand and rarely have smoked fish which we enjoyed in the UK regularly.
To sum up; poor service, average (at best) products and a disappointing experience. I intend to try somewhere else while I'm in NZ and review it, I would suggest this is best avoided.

β β β β β Good place to stop, you can find many kind of smoked mussels, fish, clams and shrimp.
I tested few ones, garlic mussels, smoked and roasted smoked Salmon , Clams, King fish.
Everything was really good for a small price.

β β β β β Fantastic Mussel company I always get my treat of smoked kutai from the Coromandel Smoke House on the way home to Tauranga. Always fantastic service reasonably priced.
They also provide alot of other tasty smoked treats! Worth a look if you enjoy smoked kaimoana! 10/10 ?
