The Embroiderer - Birkenhead
About The Embroiderer
We began in 1984 as a tiny little embroidery shop and classroom in front of my 1918 Villa, and two moves up and down the block later we are still here, right next door to the original shop in the historical village in Hinemoa St, Birkenhead, Auckland NZ.
Our embroidery classroom is bigger and our supply range more extensive but our focus is still the same: to bring inspiration, advice and friendly encouragement and to be the place to go for all your needlework supplies.
We love our craft and strive to pass this passion on to you through inspiration, embroidery classes, personal customer service and provision of high quality, beautiful needlework product.
Enjoy browsing our embroidery products collection or take a look at our embroidery classes and stitch groups. These are a wonderful way to meet new people, share your skills, learn new techniques and keep the creative juices flowing.
Yours in stitching,
Kate Wilkinson

β β β β β I used to live in Birkenhead, and bought a lot of needle work from you, I have a taperstry that has been sitting in the frame uinfinished for over 26yrs as I ran out of blacxk taperstry cotton, and have never been able to find any
where to buy, until recently I thought of googling your shop and I was delighted to find you still in business after so many years, not an easy thing to achieve for a small business. I will be paying you a visit in the very near future

β β β β β Unfortunately, what I wanted wasn't stocked. Still waiting for a reply and also felt like their personal chats were more important than being a customer! I have been in small business for years and eye contact and a smile would suffice!

β β β β β The owner's attitude quite suddenly changed when she served me. She was all friendly and helpful when she was helping the other customer, then showed me a stone cold face and gave me a "just pay and leave" vibe. Wonder if it is a racial thing or you guys don't want to welcome new customers at all.

β β β β β Very helpful staff. The sort of place I could happily find a chair and craft. Friendly atmosphere.

β β β β β Having been given a gift voucher for The Embroiderer I visited to make a purchase. The shop is beautifully presented as was the gift voucher but the reception I received in the shop was appalling and I was made to feel that I was a nuisance.
