The French Villa is a family-owned specialty retailer of Coastal, French Country and Plantation style furniture and homewares.

Led by a passion for shaping gorgeous interiors, we have carefully sourced and designed timeless pieces and complete collections to create easy elegance in every room.

Our story began with a hunt for classic French Country and Hamptons style furniture for the family’s new build. As it turns out, elegant, solidly-made and most of all, timeless furniture is hard to find in New Zealand. Surprisingly, there is very little blackand whitefurniture on offer—the quintessential Kiwi colours that never date. If you are lucky, you might find one piece you like, furnishing a room (let alone a house) in one style is impossible. The selections that were available were limited, and stock changed with every season.

Thus an idea budded and bloomed: a furniture store that offers time-honoured and traditional French Country, Plantation and Hampton-style pieces. A store we had desperately sought, but not found.

So, in 2019, The French Villa was born.

Founding Director

Ruth is our creative leader. Years of buying and renovating homes has taught her more than a thing or two when it comes to interior design. After seeing a gap in the furniture market, she’s launched her dream of sourcing product she’s passionate about and setting up her own retail store so she can share it with others.

General Manager

Daughter to Ruth, Madison keeps us all in order. She’s passionate about delivering quality products to customers, along with a sigh-worthy shopping experience—both online and in-store. From providing seamless brand experiences to scrumptious snippets on social media, Madison hopes to inspire customers and enhance their homes.
