About The Puketapu
“The Puketapu” was established in 1885 by Mr Frederick Thomas Bradley. At the time of its initial establisment it contained twenty bedrooms, two parlours and a dining room.
Since then The Puketapu Hotel has been through significant renovations and continues to change and grow. However, is has always remained the hub of this small country community. The Bar and Restaurant have come along way over the years, with being nominated for and then later wining the Hawkes Bay Hospo awards for “Traditional Pub of the year” in 2011 and 'Outstanding Local' in 2013.
The Puketapu prides its self on providing their customers with beautiful cuisine at affordable prices. While also giving them a warm welcoming experience in a unique country pub.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Awesome menu and cosy, relaxed vibe. Tried both vege mains, a lasagna and an eggplant curry served with brown rice. The lasagna was super tasty with impressive layers! Highly recommend a side of chips to dip into the curry. Definitely worth stopping in.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Such a nice calm area to drive and dine in with a couple of beers for a Sunday night dinner. Bit of a treat as we only go now and then but it’s always a good time. Food and service is great and in winter it’s nice and warm with the fireplace. Love the country style pub look, fits nicely with where their located.

My wife, daughter and I did the Puketapu Loop cycle track and stopped here for lunch en route.
The staff/owners were lovely and friendly and the food was reasonably priced and delicious. They were super friendly to our toddler and brought her a bag with some activities in it. Perfect.
We'd definitely return.
