★ ★ ★ ★ ★ History meets the water at the Careys Bay Hotel. Sit and enjoy the scenery with the boats laying idle at the wharves and the Otago peninsula across the water. Inside or out the food and drinks are great ?.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very good service. We had dinner here on a cool summer evening. Lovely warm conservatory dining area. Our meals were generous in size and in my case the "fish of the day" was excellent. I would highly recommend this place for a meal.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A little gem hidden away in Port Chalmers, the food is amazing and very reasonably priced for its quality. The beer and wine selection is great too. A must visit whenever we go back to Dunedin!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A perennial favorite stopping point on this side of the bay, for us it is almost always after a morning spent exploring and taking in the birdlife at Orokonui (which I also highly recommend). All the food is good but I recommend going strait for the fish because there are always two to three choices and each is good to excellent. Frequently there is a curry which is solid but it tends to be rather heavy. Seating is available indoors, on the enclosed patio, or out front looking towards the bay. Lovely place to stop.
