About The Ramen Shop - Newtown
The Ramen Shop started as a pop up restaurant in 2013. The Idea for the shop mainly came about due to us wanted to eat ramen and there being nowhere that made ramen that didn’t come out of a box or packet.
Some amazing venues allowed us to takeover their businesses one night at a time and our following grew from there.These businesses are the reason we are here today and we will always be thankful for that.Respect to: Golding’s Free Dive, Hasigo Zake, Rogue and Vagabond, Flight Coffee Hangar, Six Barrel Soda
In 2014 we opened a real shop at our Newtown location and in 2018 we opened our CBD shop on Victoria Street.
We are always working hard to provide the best ramen we can, we want our food to be accessible, fun and yum.We make everything we can from scratch because we want to know whats in the food we are giving you.
Affordability is important to us and we will always look to provide high quality food and drink at a reasonable price without sacrificing quality.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Love this place, always quality Ramen here, the staff are friendly and helpful. A cozy atmosphere to eat. I always order the Spicy pork Ramen, could be a bit spicier but I guess you have cater for the NZ spice level. My only request for this place if they did a seafood Ramen, it's not hard to add prawns rather than pork. Please add a seafood option.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Casual dining place. Amazing ramen shop. Their noodles have this exquisite texture and taste. Their 24 hour slow cooked pork belly is not to be missed. To wash that amazing food always go with the ginger lime warm sake.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Got the classic tonkotsu ramen which said it came with double pork belly. Suffice it to say, I was mildly annoyed. But it was pretty good. A lighter tonkotsu broth than what you might expect.
Also got the chashuu rice bowl. It was just alright. Again, it just didn't feel like enough chashuu. But that's just me. Flavour was okay.
Wouldn't come again though.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Cute little spot. Food pretty good although not the most complex broth I’ve ever had. Served very fast so not the place to go if you want to linger. Pork belly was delicious and I really enjoyed the pickles!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Karage good flavor but the waffle was not necessary as there was minimal dashi flavour in it. Ramen wise, I wish there were more authentic seasonings on the table like la-Yu or even salt to bring out the flavours a bit more. Chashu was really good and you can taste the effort put into it. The vegetarian ramen was really nice once the shiitake mushroom was warmed up by the broth however the black garlic oil could be revised to be less oily tasting and to have a more robust garlic flavour.
