★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Yummy food good friendly staff , definitely recommend nice clean environment. Well done! Reasonable prices as well.. We took in a birthday cake for a family member.. the staff kept it in the fridge for us until we we're ready. And they even put candles on it for us ? ?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A fairly large restaurant space and a good looking menu. The portions were very filling and rather large. We had the lamb rack and the goat rack (listed as shank but they didn’t have it) and both were so-so. Fairly limited selection of wines by the glass.
Nice staff (as good as most places in NZ) and were quite thorough.
Food takes a while to get to your table, and this was a Monday evening after 8.15 pm.

They were both delicious, big portions so we didn't quite finish them to leave room for the dessert as there were some seriously tempting choices there. We had the creme brulee and the teardrop doughnuts- both amazing. Thanks for a great meal!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Disappointing dining experience, main meals especially the beefalo were inedible- was very chewy and overcooked, all other meals were very bland tasting. We were served drinks when we sat down and then after we drank them, they sat empty on the table for over an hour before we finally got someones attention for more drinks, they took our order for drinks and then forgot the order and came back to the table 15 minutes later to ask us what we ordered again. Interactions with staff were friendly and polite, dessert was good.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beef cheek and fish of the day were our choices, the beef cheek was extremely tender and beautiful flavor would definitely have this again. The fish of the day was very tasty. Both very filling for a main. Staff were friendly and welcoming and service was great.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Decided to do a bit of road trip to Invercargill and wanted a nice place to have dinner and I have to say the Saucy Chef did not disappoint. The food was incredible and as someone who had never had Hare before I was super impressed with how delicious it was and how well everything on the plate paired together. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone and will be coming back as soon as I can!
