β β β β β Difficult to find and to find information, i-Site doesnt open until 10am. Bike ride signs everywhere in town pointing in all directions so had to ignore them. Locals directed us to Russell Park and from there we managed despite little signage. Discovered the new bridge by accident! Once on the track it was geat. Nice and predominantly smooth with a balance of smooth formed trail and quiet public sealed roads. About a third of it with shade. Lovely rural and bush scenery. Trail forks not signposted. Waipukurau to Waipawa 12kms each way. Overall, enjoyed it and recommend it as an pleasant, easy trail.

β β β β β The Swing Bridge over the Tuki Tuki River forms part of the trails and is a major attraction for visitors. The Swing Bridge can be accessed from either Waipawa or Waipukurau - by bike, on foot or car.
Coming from Waipawa you need to travel down Tapairu Road until it meets the river stop-back and then itβs a short distance to the bridge.
From Waipukurau you can walk or cycle at a number of entry points from Russell Park or entries off Mt Herbert Road. By car down the metal road extension of Mt Herbert Road - the entrance is a short distance from the road end.
Named the Tarewa Swing Bridge, it was opened in November 2017 after six weeks of construction. It cost $270,000 to build and we received support from many sponsors.

β β β β β Easy access from the waipukurau side (Mt Herbert Road) for the elderly members of our family. Nice picnic area ...we brought our own chairs. No toilets. Good phone coverage ? A short walk across the bridge to get down to the river. Will definitely go again.
