About The Village Early Learning Centre Blockhouse Bay
It is our aim at The Village to send children to school who are confident and competent in a wide range of skills and experiences.
When your child turns four years old they are encouraged to gather together to participate in group experiences. These activities are aimed at helping children develop knowledge and skills that will be needed when they start school.
At The Village Early Learning Centre we run a phonics based literacy programme to provide children with a formal introduction to literacy before they start school. All children are exposed to literacy and numeracy throughout their time at our centre. This is done through songs, games and a wide range of activities. However, we also provide a formal, more structured programme where the letters, their sounds and how they are formed is introduced.
We have a specific programme that all our 4 year olds are invited to come to. Each child will learn at their own pace and we make this process fun and exciting. This is a more structured time where we encourage children to concentrate and focus for longer periods of time in preparation for attending big boys or big girls school.
We also work closely with the schools in our area to ensure that your child’s transition to school is enjoyable for yourselves and your child.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We have sent our daughter to The Village for 8 months and couldn't be happier with the staff, resources and facilities. The staff are highly experienced and very friendly which not only make the children feel safe and happy but also the parents and this makes the whole daycare feel like a big Whanau. We absolutely love the care and attention the staff put into providing well thought out exercises and activities with intent and purpose. The use of Story park which is a system used to communicate with parents is excellent and is used regularly which provides parents and family (if you choose) with your child's progress not only through words but great action photographs which we treasure and look forward to receiving each week.
We cannot commend The Village enough for all that they do and the hard work that is put in caring for the children there. It truly is a fantastic daycare!
