★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Such a pleasant surprise! We were on the road and ended up here but no regrets at all - everything we ordered was very tasty. Service was excellent too

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The flat we stayed in was homey and just the right size for us, had a lovely garden and a view at the back. However, we were not happy with the blue smelly couch which reeks with a foul odor, almost like animal pee. It was not pleasant at all. We asked for it to be removed but our request was not actioned. Also, the place needs to be aerated as the rooms have a musty odor as well.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Enjoyed a nice meal here on Jan 3 - the chicken burgers were great! I liked the Ruawai kumara fries too - never had them in that style but it works well.
Everyone wanted an outside table out of the sun. The manager said that a larger group requested to take our outside table since it was in the shade - we agreed to help the manager out. He was a really nice guy and comped our drinks as a thank you. His interaction with a new staff member was nice to witness too. He was complimentary of her work, reassured her that she was doing a great job and seemed like a great manager to work for. Thumbs up to him.
The inside bar is quaint, exactly what you would expect a kiwi rural pub to look like, which is great!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We called ahead to say that we were cycling in - when we arrived we were greeted at the door and made to feel very welcome. The service was lovely. We had a cosy room with en suite and great amenities. Food in the restaurant was home cooked and delicious! Would definitely return - especially lovely after a 70 km bike ride!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Stayed in the two bedroom flat, very homey and comfortable with a nice and private outside garden area. The staff were so friendly and went the extra mile to ensure we had a good stay. My friend had arranged a cake to be made by one one of the staff and a bottle of sparkling wine in a bucket of ice as it was my birthday. The staff went out if their way to have it beautifully presented on the table when we arrived, and it was the little kind gestures throughout the evening that really made our stay so enjoyable. We ate in the outside dining area. The food was absolutely beautiful and very well presented, excellent value! Many thanks once again guys , we will definitely be back!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Thought it was time we tried this little pub out in the country side. Had heard good things about the food. We were not disappointed…the food was excellent. Hubby had the Pork belly burger and I had Oysters with salad. Truly superb. The service was exceptional. The staff very friendly & helpful. If you feel like a drive into the country I recommend you stop here. Many thanks Paparoa Hotel, it’s 5 stars from us.
