β β β β β Nice setting, called in with a couple of friends for refreshments. But after looking at the menu advertised and settling on the loaded wedges were advised that only Pies in the warmer were available. Declined that, so ordered a drink each but then found out they had no ice... don't know if I'd go back

β β β β β A dozen of us went there for a birthday lunch today. The food was good, and the prices reasonable. Free tea and coffee which you can help yourself to. I probably should have had the wedges, cos it looked delicious. Never mind, I had half a seafood platter, with chips and that was very nice. They also had a very nice indoor/outdoor bar area, and you could probably take your food out there. Nice outlook.

β β β β β Had a good time here real cheap and locals were friendly. Sure one was afraid of my crucifix. The pool tables and locals are fun .

β β β β β Went for dinner and had a medium rare steak and it came out like rubber with no seasoning. Was not worth $22. Other people in my party also had sub par meals that were either too cold or lacking flavour. Best part of the dish were the chips!
Nice enough staff but cook needs to be replaced or take some pride in their work.

β β β β β Stopped in to rendezvous with my good friend Steve at the Historic Maungaturoto Hotel to view Superbowl 55 but that turned out to be a mere sideshow.
Jo, she was our fabulous host - owner and bartender for our lunchtime arrival - looked after us for most of the afternoon as a few locals came and went.
We had lunch, played some pool and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of a pub with considerable character (and characters :-)
And yes of course we also had a couple of cold beers!
Definitely worth another visit

β β β β β Was a delight to find they were open for lunch on April 23, as coming from the south our usual cafe in Kaiwaka was closed. We have special requirements with parking a trailer and two dogs, so can't stop just anywhere. The food was superb, charming rural views from verandah. Great, friendly service - our new halfway stop between Omapere and Auckland!

β β β β β A few different types of tap beer seemed quite flat and off tasting. Wine was ok. Dinner of steaks, fish burger and meat burger etc was good. Dessert of chocolate brownie and vanilla ice cream. Brownie was ok I guess, served with yellow pineapple ice cream. Wasn't keen on that. Also kitchen wasn't open till 6pm. So just having a bowl of fries with your drink after a hard day working wasn't an option.
