About Thornberry Roses Tauranga
I come from from a long line of gardeners. My grandmother’s and my mother’s garden were always filled with roses, perennials and annuals with roses often taking prime centre stage in the garden. Roses in vases would always adorn the bedside tables and be dotted through the homestead wafting their fragrance through the air as you walked past….
I have always had a love for the natural world and a strong belief in natural organic gardening without the need for chemicals. My gardening days started with growing vegetables with the aim of providing nutritious organic food for my family. Slowly flowers crept in to my vegetable patch as my love of and need for flowers grew. I started following the slow flower movement that was happening overseas and at the same time fell in love with David Austin roses with their old-fashioned form and fragrance. It made me wonder why I couldn't buy roses like these...roses with fragrance and beautiful form...and an idea started forming...
