A	Alayna Ashby on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Local pub in Tolaga bay, friendly staff and locals. A wonderful outside space and garden bar. You can order hot food from Aunty’s next door and bring it into the pub to have with your drink. Always a great visit.
K	Kieran Moorhead on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If you are road tripping around the east cape, a stop in Tolaga bay is a fantastic idea. It’s a shining example of the best of beach towns in Aotearoa. After checking out the longest wharf in NZ and having a swim, we had fish and chips from The Aunties. We decided to have a drink next door at Tolaga Bay Inn, and discovered the manaakitanga and friendliness of the community. They were hosting the inaugural darts competition and the Inn was filled with laughter, excitement and competitive spirit. After several more drinks and shots shouted for us by a couple of locals we decided to stay the night before our trip further around the coast the next day. The Inn is an old wooden building built in the 1930s full of character, and our room was very affordable and lovely. Would love to stay again!
M	MQGem Software on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lovely old building, in need of some work, but that doesn't detract from its charm. I hope the community project to revitalise this historic building goes well. In answer to comments that this place is dirty, it isn't. It is tarnished in places, long term wear and tear, but it is clean and comfortable. It is not a modern hotel, but an old school inn. If you're expecting an en-suite bathroom, you won't get one here. But the facilities are fine. Showers are spacious, water is hot. Full use of the kitchen if you need it, or eat at Aunty's Cafe which is brilliant.

The pub downstairs is a good place to meet friendly locals. Would recommend to stay here to experience the East Coast hospitality.

Pity really as we had visited Tolaga and stayed with friends there yonks ago. One star for the menu on the door telling us what we were missing.
