About Top Gear Rotorua Limited
Top Gear Rotorua Limited is a company started in 2005 by Scott Hewson.
The business was originally formed to offer mobile mechanical and engineering services to the forestry and earthmoving industries as well as servicing customers in the NZ speedway Stockcar and Superstock classes.
In early 2006 it was clear that a workshop base and more staff was needed so we set up the workshop in our previous Monokia Street location. This was a successful move and it allowed us to update and add to our list of plant and equipment.
In 2013 we saw the need for a bigger more modern facility and moved to our current location on 43 Tallyho Street. Our workshop is fully equipped with everything needed to carry out light and heavy engineering tasks. We have the latest in CNC plasma cutting table technology along with guillotine and press brake facilities and we are skilled in welding steel, aluminum and stainless with mig, tig and stick.
With our on-site drafting and design facilities we are able to build innovative products in many different fields. That same year I saw a gap in the market for a good enclosed trailer manufacturer, we set about designing and building a few units and they have progressed a lot over the years.
This is now a huge part of our business. We now have a number of standard sizes and manufacturing processes which allow us to build a very high-quality product at a good price point. During 2018 we have built and delivered 45 units to new and repeat customers and have now built 120 plus units in total. Our Top Gear Trailers are built to last and we stand by our product.
