★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Did a forklift OSH cert last yr and it was good. I hadn't driven a forklift much so the trainer let me watch some of the others 1st then have some practice before doing the final bit. I'll probably try the online option for the renewal in a couple of yrs

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ There were 6 of us, all students at college, with zero experience in driving forklifts. In brief, the course consisted of 5 hours of theory (that could have been completed beforehand as it was open book), a 15 minute demonstration on how to operate a forklift and what the assessment would entail, and then being told to replicate the demonstration.
As none of us had experience of using a forklift, the day would have been much more productive if we had received training on the day, which is what we thought we were going to get, not 5 hours of sitting down. Using a forklift for the first time in a tight space with cones was very difficult. Now, I'm assuming the instructor took an instant dislike to me, or perhaps it was his frustration that I couldn't remember all the steps in the assessment on a forklift I had never driven before, but it was an unpleasant experience and left me feeling upset and belittled.
