★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I purchased a new cruising mainsail here from Phil in December 2017. I was convinced by his confidence in his work and assessment of my needs. After a few measurements at the boat and discussion of design details, I waited three months until the sail was finally ready. What was delivered was unfortunately not entirely completed and even some critical elements were off. When questioned about these elements, Phil assured me they we as they should be and I could not argue with a professional. Still I wondered so after some research and contacting another sailmaker, it was evident that modifications were required. After much insisting Phil agreed to make things right but again rushed through with the bare minimum. The end result is a brand new mainsail requiring further modifications to work with the boat.
Mistakes happen and I can't expect perfection but this business denied accountability and has left this sailor with an unfinished product. I really wish I could have written a positive review and more importantly gotten the custom fit sail that I paid for. After all isn't that why one hires a local sailmaker?
I have given two stars because I did receive a t-shirt and sail bag with my name on it but the mainsail was ultimately unsuccessful. Hopefully this review helps others avoid the same mistake I made.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great people to deal with international expert well respected by many in the global industry. Phil is on a minute walk from whangarei moorings in town basin and has bikes to use from yachties without transport if you ask nicely. Thanks for the greats sail Phil and crew.
