β β β β β What is the name of head of hall? She donβt make herself known and is rude when you speak to her. She is very unprofessional and only likes people of her culture.Nothing gets fixed quickly. The apartment are supposed to come furnished but there is no consistency. We also had 2 plates for a 3 bedroom apartment.
My friends apartment had many many belongings. Very canβt wait to leave this place at end of trimester.

β β β β β It's fine. Living conditions are ok. The rooms are reasonably sized. The stoves don't work, the washing takes forever (though it helps that the washing machine dries clothes too). We aren't quite given everything we night need, e.g. can opener, grater. The heater comes on at 5pm and turns off at 11pm. This means by 9 or 10 or 11 it can be quite stuffy and hot. You wake up freezing cold in the morning. Later in the year they start to turn it on in the morning between 6 and 8 but it doesn't make a difference and is still freezing. They aren't very accommodating when things don't work and such. Wifi is awful.

β β β β β My experience with UniLodge has been a positive one. The Unilodge Staff is what makes this place worthwhile. From the outset, the Hall Manager Melissa Leaupepe, was incredibly friendly and accommodating. Even though I was not a student at Unilodge at the time, Melissa went out of her way and offered help and support to me during a difficult time. Whenever I passed by her in the office or in the hallways, she would stop and chat to see how I was doing, no matter how busy she was. She continued to do so up until the day I left.
The same can be said for Ben, the Deputy Hall Manager, who started in the second trimester. From the very first week that Ben started, I noticed positive changes in how Unilodge was run. His experience in the tourism sector has really come through - my requests were always acknowledged and promptly dealt with. I knew that when I had any issue, I could trust Ben to find a solution. Like Melissa, Ben would always stop whatever he was doing to chat with me and ask if everything was well.
I am so grateful for everything that the management and staff of Unilodge did for me. They were always going above and beyond to help me.
There was a period of time when the office was short staffed where things were a bit messy. However, positive changes have happened since then. Communication is key. The staff in the office are more than happy to help. You just have to be honest with them.
The facilities at Unilodge are not the best. Heating especially on the upper floors does not work well. It could do with a lot of TLC. I believe there was a short circuit somewhere in our apartment that was causing our bill to be high compared to others. However, I found it adequate for my budget and needs. The location is fantastic - close to Vic Uniβs Pipitea Campus and near Lambton Quay and the waterfront.
If there was one thing I would suggest it would be to install some industrial dryers for students to dry their clothing for a fee. My laundry always took way too long to dry in the winter or when it was raining βΊοΈ

β β β β β The staff have gone to every effort possible to deal with the unprecedented effects of Covid-19. I'm aware that their power only goes so far as Stafford House is only one building in the UniLodge chain, and I feel they have done what they can. The RAs are all lovely and smile at me in the hallway, and I know that when I text or call the duty phone or go to the office, they will do their best to help me out.

β β β β β BEST PLACE TO LIVE IN THE WHOLE WELLINGTON. The property manager helpfully transitioned the students into living comfortably in the building. Earthquake-resistant building. Top class security. Spacious room. Make sure you reserve a spot for yourself to live in this building through the Vic uni website.

β β β β β Who are, who are WE? We are, we are STAFFORD!!!!
Stafford has been such a welcoming hall, from the Staff to all the RA's representatives. Love being involved in our hall activities aka Open Mic Night and Cultural Night! As well as meeting our awesome residents and creating such great bonds! Always good getting a "good morning" and "have a great day" from the staff at the reception! Love your team work Stafford!

β β β β β 3 stars cause I have had both good bad experiences. Starting off with positives, it is centrally located and has decent communal facilities such as Gym, study rooms, sports, lounge, etc.
On the downside, they could not keep the track of the last installment of my rent payment and therefore they haven't returned the bond amount to me yet. It's been 8 weeks and their policy is to credit the amount back to your account within 6 weeks. They should be vigilant in keeping tracks for deposits as much as they are vigilant about who has overdues. That's the only complaint but it is being resolved now. Nt worth it though cause it took me multiple emails and phone calls to get to talk to them. Their customer service is decent but needs alot improvement. They need to be prompt and snappy.

β β β β β I stayed at Unilodge Stafford House from February to July 2020. I was studying as an international exchange student at Victoria University.
Overall, I loved my stay at Stafford! My room was really great and the view on the 12th floor: STUNNING.
All the RAs (Resident Advisors) were lovely and available when needed. They knew how to make us feel welcome in our new home, even for one trimester only. I actually had the chance to live in a flat with an amazing RA.
To me, the best thing about Stafford House was their culture. They are incredibly open-minded, and diversified, it is a very friendly place where your privacy will be respected and if you want to mix with international people, the staff will give you the opportunity to, thanks to floor meetings, and activites organized in the common room (game night, quiz night, movie night, Maori culture workshop, etc.). I participated to an inter-halls activity, the chant, at the begining of Tri 1 and the energy at Stafford was so amazing that the hall won the 1st place in the competition!
The walk score is 97 and the transit score is 81! I had classes both at Pipitea and Kelburn and walked most of my trips. You have plenty of cafΓ©s, restaurants, shopping near Stafford as well.
Finally, they supported us during the COVID-19 pandemic. When we needed it the most, they knew how to help us and find us solutions to go through this time. In fact, Stafford was the only hall still open for lockdown. I don't know what I would have done if I had stayed at another hall. Thank you Stafford!
By the way, Jess is an incredible RA ;)
