Uplands Kindergarten - Remuera
About Uplands Kindergarten
Uplands Kindergarten was formed in 1970 when two busy mums, Ngaire Lee and Robyn Florence, found themselves looking after a growing group of neighbourhood children in their back gardens. They moved into three rooms at the rear of the old Somervell Presbyterian Church building in 1976. Now Uplands is housed in a bright and airy purpose-built facility with flexible interconnecting spaces to accommodate different age groups. A management committee draws on talents available in the church congregation as well as parent representatives. Through all the changes that the kindergarten has undergone in 50 years, the same care, love and practicality that went into forming Uplands all those years ago remains today.

It is a warm, positive and nurturing environment where learning through play is encouraged by the wonderful and caring teachers. I cannot recommend Uplands Kindergarten enough, it is fabulous.

Children are lovingly nurtured in a fabulous environment by a team of great teachers, resources and support staff. Fathers, nannies, grandparents, siblings and blended families all become part of the wider family that Uplands is and children are really encouraged to grow in many skills from social, maths, reading, Maori, environmental, art, morals, music, culture, acceptance of others, cooking and physical activity. We still look at their portfolios with pride and joy, thanks to the Upland A1 team!! xxx

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The best kindy in the area! You'll find the most nurturing environment for 2-5 year olds at Uplands. Our child has thrived under the care of her wonderful teachers, who have been there for many years and are absolutely amazing – they're kind, engaging, enthusiastic, and they genuinely care for the wellbeing of all the children there. They also organise several field trips a year (farm and theatre visits), and offer a brilliant school-ready programme for 4 year olds. It's a wonderful learning environment and we would highly recommend them to to anyone considering a quality childcare.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Both my boys went here , absolutely lovely staff with the most caring and fun teachers, could not recommend highly enough. I am pretty picky with where my kids go too. Virtually no staff turnover with the same teachers teaching both my boys who are 3 years apart in age so that is definitely saying something about the great positive atmosphere.
