★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Amazing trails in this area. I both hike and ride the wharfedale. As far as riding goes it varies between intermediate and advanced uphill sections. Hard slog in places but very satisfying to complete.
Dog friends which is a win in my books!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I've visited twice and, after Google took me to View Hill school's carpark on the first attempt, it was only on the second visit that I realised the Google Maps location had been given the wrong name of Wharfedale Track Car Park. I even met some other lost drivers on the way. All DOC references to this site refer to it as View Hill Car Park, as does the local guide by Pat Barrett as well as other mapping software that I checked, so I've changed the name to the correct title of View Hill Car Park. I've also removed the link to a random spammy website with ads.
General info: there's a ford to cross on the approach, as well as a number of farm gates that must be left as found. The gravel road has a couple of bumpy bits and has been damaged by heavy rain. If you're visiting when it's dry, you can manage in a 2WD. Lots of space at the car park but it's a busy location so can be pretty full. There's a longdrop toilet at the car park and a DOC info board with a map and various track info.
This Google Maps location is for the car park itself. From here you can walk to Wharfedale Hut, Mt Oxford summit, Ryde Falls, and more.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I actually loved this walk, but if you want to take the quickest walk, the signs can be quite confusing. For the quickest walk to the Ryde falls, take the Wharfedale Track (20 mins) and then keep going straight for the Korimako Track Junction (10 mins), and then finally right down to the Falls (30 mins), so it a good hour. Mud, rivers and bush to traverse. Great fun!
