I give credit where credit is due. Yes the wait times are abysmal. Sometimes even criminal. No one should wait longer than an hour especially if its an emergency. I waited 4 hours to be seen with my leg swelling out and leaking fluid all over the place. But once seen to, I was greeted with the most careful, courteous staff that were interested in my comfort and getting me to where I needed to be. The nursing staff are run off their feet tending to the many patients including myself. I have nothing but praise for them. Honestly without this hospital in place here, we would be up poo creek without a paddle

I think people forget that staff deal with alot more than what's going on in the waiting room. Nurses break back for patients & severely unpaid for they job they do. Besides the wait, they genuinely do a good job. Without them many of us would be screwed. Cut em some slack. Hospital food is hospital food, cant expect a 5star restaurant, it is what it is. As opposed to other hospitals they are on to it. Good job Masterton hospital keep up all the good work.

We waited for 6 long hours for 5 minutes consultation.,.for nothing. Why keeping public waiting for this long... they should change the name emergency to something else. We saw many people leaving without any treatment because of long waiting. This is not right. I have been to many hospitals, in different countries but this is the one place I have seen that an emergency works this slow?! People come to emergency for emergency needs. If you keep people waiting like this your service needs to be updated for the sake of people. A dad waited with two small kids for 6 hours to get 10 minutes consultation?! I have heard about their poor service from so many people but for the first time I am experiencing it. Put right doctors to work. The system needs to be update. I have no idea why many nurses and other people working inside and they took nearly 6 to 9 hours to see only approximately 12 to 15 people. So so disappointed. I didn't expect this service from a hospital from New Zealand. Hopefully they will change for good.

I have a mixed review since it's hard to review a place that has many different staff. I've had bad experiences and good. It all depends on the staff you deal with. One of the woman on reception at the A&E is always very rude and moody. She refused to let my husband be seen for his toothache, yet another time they allowed me to be seen for the exact same problem and gave me an injection to numb the pain, my husband went home in excruciating pain. Another woman on reception was much nicer and more helpful. However when we went in to get our 9 month old checked for a fever, a couple of the nurses were quite rude. My LO ended up falling asleep due to being very sick and feverish, I didn't want to wake her and we requested to keep the light off since it was upsetting her and the nurse got very snappy at us and stormed out the room. It was super unprofessional, and discouraged us that we left. We ended up calling an ambulance early the next morning because our LO got worse and the nurses at that hour (2-5am) were much better to deal with and showed compassion for us and our LO. It is hard having to show up and put your trust in strangers to care for your small child, it's also very unsettling to see your LO in so much pain. Nurses and Dr's who are able to show compassion and understanding toward the parents and their patients is so important and very valued today since it seems many hearts are growing cold. Thank you to those who did help us and show concern and to those that didn't, I hope you can re evaluate yourselves and show more empathy and less judgment.

Better to die than wait here ... was in the ED with a friend from 10 am ro 7.45 pm who had met with an accident. He was in pain and the blood on wounds had dried by the time he was finally attended. Worst experience. I would not even give 1 star. I understand the medical sector is stressed but this is absurd.

We arrived at Wairarapa Hospital to go to the emergency department and found a tent based Triage out front. First we were both tested for COVID, and thankfully cleared. Within 30 minutes of arrival we were seen in ED and being supremely looked after. Nothing but praise for the staff, process, and cleanliness of this hospital.

Absolutely disgusted with time it took 2 see a Dr. Nearly 10 hrs. Only water available. No coffee, Tea or a bite 2 eat. Nurse @ 10pm felt sorry & got us a cuppa & a sandwich which was much appreciated. Intending patients should make lots of moaning sounds, don't just sit there & suffer quietly.

Just wanted to say THANK YOU SO MUCH ? to everyone that I've met in the process of having my cataract removed last Friday. Everyone I met, from the covid checking process through to the time that I left, was so lovely and reassuring. They were carefully explaining what they were going to do and what to expect all the way through. I just had to let them all know how much I appreciated their care. Thank you all.
