★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 3 1/2 years ago I had a shoulder manipulation under general anaesthetic. I was delayed..... No fluids given..... No drip put up during GA....... And so I got a DVT due to dehydration.
Then 10 days later I went into A and E saying I had a DVT, but was sent home. Next day I ended up in HDU and had a massive pulmonary embolism. Nearly died, and I have not been the same since. The clot is still there, calcified and 50cm long.
I have not been able to work since. This has affected my life hugely.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I've recently had eye surgery at chch hospital and an excellent service from them 150% competant and efficient. I was feeling like something was wrong yesterday 8.2.2021 so went up to after care service. They took me through to A & E. Checked out immediately & thoroughly and consulted with Opthomologist in Nelson. Awaiting appointment for check of eye at Outpatients Dept for tomorrow. Phones overloaded so couldn't get through. The only concern was some equipment wasn't working at Wairau hospital A & E. Please can this be checked out and fixed or replaced.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 6 hours to see a doctor in Emergency (8:15pm arrival to 2:15am). I was discouraged to see a doctor by two nurses and the doctor was uncomfortably brief (5 minutes of questioning).
As a foreigner I was charged:
$55 for two Panadol and two Nurofen
$125 for urine sample
$1165 for 5 minutes with a doctor
(With GST) $1547 total

I had my baby 2 days ago.
You gave me the best care anyone could of asked for. Being my last baby. My care was amazing and I could not recommend highly enough. Especially Sue and
Bronwyn!!! Chelsea and Amy. You lovely ladies have a big thumbs up from me. And if you knew me properly personally then you would know that its a huge deal.
You made me feel at home. Even though I wanted to be at home. You lovely ladies treated me like I was someone and not just another patient/mother. Which every mum wants. You answered every question no matter how silly it was. I have recommended you amazing midwives and nurses to a few people who I know would value the care that you provide. Best wishes for the future for you ❤

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My wife spent time in day stay for a minor operation and could not thank the staff there and the surgeon Jane Sissons for her outstanding care. She said they made her too comfortable and she didn't want to leave. You guys are worth more than a block of gold and let's hope your next pay rounds sees it that way as well.kia Kara.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I was recently an inpatient in the Medical Ward at Wairau Hospital. The doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and all other staff were amazingly good to me. Cannot fault their professionalism, but mainly their patience, care and kindness. Thank you all so much. What a fantastic hospital. Even the food was outstanding!

Some things they do well, some they don't.
Big alleged problems with bullying culture, etc.
