★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Along with another couple, we've just spent two nights at Wallingford. Our already high expectations were exceeded. We knew that this historic homestead would be charming and spacious, and it did not disappoint. What we were not prepared for was the truly excellent cuisine. It's a set menu, and every dish was interesting and perfectly balanced preparation and flavours. We three omnivores and one vegetarian agreed that we've never been so happy to eat whatever came out of the kitchen. We've recently done The Lindis, Eden Lodge, The Farm at Cape Kidnappers, Huka Lodge and several others. Chris Stockdale at Wallingford is simply the best. Jeanette Woerner, his partner and the front of house, is genuinely warm and wants you to be happy. She sent us off to visit gorgeous Porangahau Beach, recommended coffees at Flotsam and Jetsam and that was a perfect outing. We came hack to the homestead to walk the grounds and read on the verandah. Divine. We've already booked in for November.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Just completed a painting holiday with Jacky Pearson at this historic homestead. We were superbly catered for by Jeanette, Chris and their team; nothing was too much trouble and the food was plentiful and delicious. It certainly deserves a 5 star recommendation!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I had previously been for dinner and promised myself I would be back to stay. We came for a 50th birthday party and had an incomparable weekend of bliss. Possibly the most welcoming place in the world. Extra points for the host dogs, who topped off the whole event.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ There is no better COVID (or any) holiday than one where you are far away from crowds and welcomed by fabulous hosts, a peaceful farm, amazing heritage home and the gorgeous farm dogs. The night I spent at Wallingford was one of the most memorable for a long time. Amazing hospitality, and an incredible dinner right up there with the best I have ever had. Sipping gins by the fireplace was a wonderful memory as was a breakfast that was unforgettable enjoyed on the verandah overlooking the farm. This is a gorgeous part of the world that I think may often be overlooked, when actually it's a premiere destination. Fabulous. Jeanette and Chris are doing an amazing job!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One of the most amazing experiences we’ve ever had. J is a detail-orientated, warm and fabulous host who we could’ve sat talking to for hours. Chris’s food is some of the best we have ever eaten and so great to see the use of local and sustainable foods. Wallingford is the most beautiful setting. We can’t wait to come time and time again. This will never get old!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ David and I had the most relaxing and enjoyable three nights at Wallingford with Jeanette and Chris. The Homestead is delightful and we loved that it was an "original" with the addition of modern comforts (beds and bathrooms etc), set in lovely gardens. The original features and its history made it both interesting and beautiful. Service was charming and first rate. And the food - it was frankly amazing! Chris was renowned for his skills here in Sydney for many years and is certainly a chef deserving of at least 2 hats in New Zealand!!
Well done, Chris and Jeanette.
