About Waste Management

We collect New Zealanders’ waste, recycle and reuse as much as we can, then safely dispose of what’s left in our modern, engineered landfills. There we capture over 90% of the landfill gas produced and convert it to electricity to feed back into the national grid. This helps power our growing electric truck fleet, which collects your waste.

Do not use this company. Missed collections, no customer service, terrible experience. And if you buy a flexi bin don't expect it to be collected for weeks! Would put no stars but had to put one to get this posted. Envirowaste is better and cheaper.

Very poor service! Don't bother trying to call to sort issues, just leave you on hold to give up. Broken promises, lies and distrust is all we get. If someone else could provide a similar service in the New Plymouth area, I'm sure they would have no problem obtaining customers.

Terrible service in the New Plymouth area. We have called and called the New Plymouth branch and nobody picks up for a lenghty amount of time. Finally got through paid for our garden waste bag to be picked up within 5 working days and it is still sitting here! Phoned waste managent again got thrpugh after waiting 25minutes on the line only to be told by reception they were not sure why bag has not picked up and would need to talk to dispatch. Advised we would get a call back FYI: last time they said they would call back they never did. Not happy at all would go somewhere else if there was another company who picked up the flexibags!

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! They don't bother to answer the phone, you're put on hold for ages (25 minutes and I gave up), you get to hear how they "are looking forward to being of assistance to you; please hold and one of our team will be with you shortly". I've tried off and on for three days, each time holding on for 20-30 minutes. What does "shortly" mean?? What a JOKE!! This company is WORSE than any I have ever tried to deal with before! Our bin has been sitting on the berm waiting to be picked up for days after they said they would pick it up and it's happened twice in a month. Very disappointing to say the least! (I had to click one star to post but not worth it!)

TERRIBLE β€œI’ll give you a call back to confirm this later today” translates to - I’m never going to call back and when you call back to follow up our staff - they will not be able to find any trace of the skip booking you β€œmade” yesterday . That and people that barely speak English answering the phone time and time again - COME ON its a NZ call centre you need to speak and understand English! My advise - Don’t even bother trying with the New Plymouth waste management and complaints will get you no where . I hung up and booked with Just Rubbish based in Brixton/Waitara- AWESOME LOCAL PHONE SERVICE - use them instead !

Don't waste your time! Worst customer service I have ever come across! 2yrs later still waiting for a reply to my first email... never get back to you with information they said they would get and let you know, and when on the phone to them you get put on hold for AGES, listening to the worst music ever, and then get hung up on...twice! Even called head office and they were just as unhelpful. I would be so embarrassed if this was my company.. there should be a ZERO star rating because that is what they actually deserve.

Pickup and communication is a joke. They changed pickup days without telling me, have missed pickup two weeks in a row and occasionally only half empty the bin. Response from their customer service rep was "make sure your bin is out on time" when I told them I'd put it out the night before they kindly advised I "make sure your bin is out on time" Absolutely useless, simple as that.

If I could rate a zero I would. Hard to get hold of over the phone, do not respond to my emails, took 6 weeks of me begging for them to even deliver my bin and they were still cheeky enough to send me invoices. Have now gone 4 weeks without my bin being picked up. Unfortunately I’m stuck with them and have no choice but to keep using them as no one else picks up in my area. Wouldn’t touch them if I had a choice and I would not recommend to someone who does
