About Wellington Indoor Riding School
Anna is a Senior Instructor and our Head Pony Club Coach. “I was born in 1982 at the Baltic Sea in the north of Germany. According to my mother, I have loved horses since I was five, got my first pony when I was 12 and have never grown out of it! When I moved to NZ, I started training with Vanessa Way. I bought a beautiful youngster who I have been bringing on myself. I've part of the WIRS team for 6 years and It's a dream come true to be able to share my knowledge with our riders and see them achieve success.”

β β β β β We have done a few lessons here. It was hard to get on hold with them to begin with, no response despite several emails and voice mail try to book time. Then for the first lesson, it was ten minutes late for a thirty minutes lesson, because the previous person was delayed and we had to wait for the same horse. Today, we were told our booking was changed to earlier when got there. They said they've rang, and ended up ringing the wrong number. We have booked this lesson two weeks in advance. It could be easily avoid if they've checked my contact form, or just drop me an email earlier rather than changing at the last minute. And they cannot just assume we agree to the new time without contacting us. We drove for over an hour return and very disappointed with the attitude - sorry we have tried to ring (at the last minute), nothing we can do.
Very poor communication and poorly managed.

β β β β β My daughter loves coming here for dressage and jumping lessons and pony club. I like how they encourage kids to participate in all aspects of looking after the horses, and give them the chance to compete and do pony club assessments even when they don't have a horse of their own.

β β β β β Everyone you meet at WIRS is so nice. We started in Jan 2021 for ridding sessions for my son and he had a wonderful termβs ridding sessions with both Anna and Amy in Term 1 2021.
We have now started his second term with Anna and my son is loving every minute of it!

β β β β β My 2, absolute beginner, nieces had a wonderful first time riding experience here today. The ponies were very well cared for & loved. The staff were attentive, friendly and professional. Such a lovely time had by all.
Highly recommend for beginner/novice children to learn in a safe, supportive environment. Thank you ??

β β β β β Quite upsetting actually, brung my Γ2 young toddlers here for a pony ride. Online says $30 - but u got charged because it's now "$35", but ohwell still decided to pay, actually so over priced for them to walk my daughter around in circles? I brung my daughter last year in 2021, the lady made the pony comit do little jumps here & there, making my daughter laugh, made the pony go in and out of cones & galloping, not 2022. I still had to pay $35 even though my son didn't want to ride - instead my daughter got the last "7MINS" ride out of it to do extra boaring laps.
The worst part was when I walked into reception, the girl just sat there on her phone, didn't acknowledge me, just looked dumb founded & I said I have Γ2 pony rides at 12, she just says "OK"puts the $70 on eft so I could pay, then says "I better go find a hat that'll fit" didn't want to say "follow me" or have you been here befor, didn't try to make conversation.
WAY OVER PRISED, NO CUSTOMER CARE, NO CARE IN GENERAL, really run down since last time I came.

β β β β β Donβt get me wrong, my daughter loves riding here and she loves her coach. She is doing well however, the customer services side of things cannot be more challenging. Communication is poor, no newsletters to explain about school holidays or updates to explain how things work. It took us three lessons to realise we need to arrive 10 min early, get βn hat / helmet and that her lessons are at the outside area and that we needed to meet the coach there. From the beginning I asked to be on a waiting list to move lessons to an alternative day. After several weeks I followed up and asked again if they can keep us mind if lessons open on a different day. Last night I realised, by accident, that alternative slots are offered on Facebook and the first person to respond, gets the slot. I emailed WIRS who said it is only individual lessons that is handled this way (not true as I pointed out a permanent slot 4 days earlier that we could have grabbed had we known), but that they are βhappy to cancelβ our lessons until I find a better slot on Facebook. So much for letting your customers feel valued! When I checked in on term fees as, again, no communication, I was asked to make payment asap and send proof of payment through. It felt like a little sting as I was the one following up after no invoices were sent and instead I am asked to make payment immediately. They have wonderful coaches on the team however the rest of the experience falls flat.
