Lovely place for a walk and see the birds, lake and the forest. Many families were having picnics. I saw many esls, coots, pukeko, swans, turtles, geese and ducks... so cute.

here are plenty of opportunities to view birds up close, including ducks, geese and pลซkeko. I alway enjoy so much to see and play with the them, to feel the the bird life. What a treat to walk through the huge lawn playing with the birds, walk along with lake seeing how the swans play & fight. but please do not feed them. Feeding them unsuitable food, like bread, can cause poor nutrition and spread disease. It artificially increases the size of the population and leads to overcrowding, and unnatural and aggressive behaviour. It is the real healing Center of the city.

We went to walk around but it was great place for picnic! Get some foods and blanket to enjoy sunny weather? Hope we can go back for picnic soon! (When we move level 1)

If you like birding then this a great place to see lots of bird life. There are shags, paradise shelducks, nz scaup ducks, nz dabchicks, white faced herons, pukeko, spur-winged plovers, tui, fantails, Australian coots, grey warblers, gulls, geese, swans and many more! Recommend visiting during spring/early summer to see all the chicks as they start to explore ?

We stopped by for a few afternoons to do a walk around the lake. There are quite a few places to park from the multiple entrances to the park. There is a big parking lot across the road on Great North Road. There are a few paths that all eventually go to the pathway around the lake. It is quite a nice walk around the lake, where you have to go over a few fish. There are plenty of animals to see in the area like the swans, ducks, koi and eels. Most of the paths are easy to walk along. There is a playground near the zoo end of the park which is new and quite large. There are also quite a lot of grassy areas to sit down on as well as seats and tables for picnics or rests. Spring is a nice time to walk since you see the baby birds all around the park.

Absolutely gorgeous, spacious and huge park! Lots of space for a picnic, a game or exercise. Beautiful views of the lake.
