Racist and no integrity (just look at the minorities the bad reviews are from). Only given an extra star cos the food was nice. I have heard and experienced so many horror stories of this place in the past 4 years I've lived here: 1. My teacher said reception at a certain part of the hospital was sparky because a patient interrupted her gossiping session. 2. While I was starting at KFC and was about to explain to a nurse it's a sequence of how to add orders and she was talking too fast, she interrupted and said in a snarky tone, "Um, I'm NOT finished" while her friend (also a nurse) sniggered. 3. Was a cafeteria assistant there and 90% of the doctors and nurses (nurse that sniggered at me was surprisingly pleasant) were the most entitled, spoilt brats I've ever seen. They display the most disgusting behaviour when told the word no or when they know something is immoral/unethical but wish for it to be done anyways (I recall one nasty old guy from elderly care storming in DEMANDING something at the cafe be 20c and making weekly complaints despite giving him everything he asked). 4. My flatmate also had surgery done (they botched it up 2-3x apparently) 5. Her and another flatmate are both essential workers there and despite working at different parts of the hospital, one keeps bringing visitors in and out of the house AFTER lockdown (the other flatmate is only aware of the one visitor that stayed overnight since the others left really early in the morning...she's head of the hematology department). Obviously duty of care is not on the agenda. I've also sent a COVID-19 breach and an e-mail to the hospital and I'm still awaiting response.

Emergency department are amazing. So caring and helpful. Brought in my 2 year old with a head injury and they couldn’t be more courteous. Thank you.

Thankyou to the emergency team at whangarei hospital for fixing me. I was so scared and anxious and they helped me through it so much. The bone doctor Ezra and a lovely nurse. Kept me laughing and helped me through my panic . I'm so thankful

Extremely disappointed in how I was treated by the staff at this hospital and was judged based on my mental health. I was let leave the hospital in my gown and bare feet in rain when the mental health team had deemed me not safe for discharge. I was not in the state to be let out of hospital and since complaining have been discriminated against by Christine McKerrow who handled my complaint. Christine didn't know about section 111 in the mental health act and told me I was in a medical ward and it wasn't about my mental health. I have never felt so judged by a hospital staff member. I am worried that Christine Mckerrow is employed to deal woth complaints as she has no empathy and looks at things only from a physical health point of view not a holistic view.

1st class staff. Ward 1 had a great team spirit which definitely benefitted the patients. My experience of 12 days on that ward was equivalent of private hospital or even better. Building needs bulldozing down and start again, but designers should walk away from their desks and go and ask the people who do the actual work first before putting pen or pencil to paper.

All credit to the Emergency Department for its exceptional team effort in dealing with my emergency event. Immense thanks to our brilliant Dr William (Chip ) Jaffurs and to highly competent nurses Amy and Chris. We are so fortunate having you working at Whangarei Hospital. Ann

Well that was an ‘experience’. Someone who is 75yrs old never been in hospital for illness - only to have 1 child nearly 52yrs ago, my mum. THANK YOU to the extremely overworked staff in Emergency, Assessment and Renal Units in these trying times. You showed my mum care and kindness to help her through her 1st health scare and put up with my slight melt down - 4 hospital trips 1 doc visit in 5 days kind of tested the nerves. It is my turn to take care of my mum and staff trusted my confidence enough to ask if I was from a medical background ? No - only 20yrs animal welfare so kind of the same ??‍♀️❤️ Three days doesn’t seem like such a big deal to be in care however I thought this was going to end very different - Thank you, bless you all.
